About Savvion
Savvion provides Web-based business process management (BPM) software, solutions and services that enable businesses to be more competitive, agile and cost-efficient in today’s tough economic times. Considered a trailblazer and leader in the BPM industry, Savvion has built a customer base of more than 350 global companies, including 22 of the Fortune 100. To best meet the truly “mission-critical” needs of this customer base, the Savvion organization—and its data needs—has grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade.
Customer Challenge
Do more with less. And if you can’t do that, at least do more with the same. Sound familiar? No matter the project or program, IT Directors everywhere are asked by executives to do more with less. Vincent Kenny, Director of Information Technology at Savvion expected the same when he asked Simply Continuous to make his backup problems with tape disappear. He had a long list of requirements including:
- Offsite data backup
- Get rid of tape
- Improve recovery time
- Do all of this on an existing budget
An impossible task, right? "Be careful for what you wish for," we told Kenny. "Your wish just might come true."
Savvion, like many growing companies, used tape technology to backup their data. When Savvion first addressed the requirement for remote data protection, tape was the only viable approach to meet their budget and fit the needs of their company. However, as Savvion grew, so did their dependency on company data. When their data protection and recovery requirements changed, Vincent Kenny was tasked to find a better solution.
Simply Continuous Solution
Using Data Domain’s industry leading deduplication storage systems, Savvion’s information is simultaneously deduplicated and securely replicated offsite to a Simply Continuous datacenter where it is readily available whenever and wherever customers need it. In the event of an outage, Savvion can recover individual files remotely or, in the event of a site disaster, request a replacement Data Domain appliance to be shipped to the recovery site.
Business Benefits
"Data Recovery Vault allowed me to finally migrate off of tape backup without increasing my IT costs," said Vincent Kenny. "I couldn’t justify an ongoing investment in an antiquated and unreliable technology like tape. That’s when I turned to Simply Continuous and Data Domain to provide offsite data backup and recovery. With Data Recovery Vault, Savvion’s information is protected in the event of a disaster and I can recover the data more quickly than I ever could with tape."
Benefits of Data Recovery Vault include:
- Easy integration with existing infrastructure including backup software and existing bandwidth
